The Green Park Hotel is a currently-derelict hotel by the River Avon in Bath that is in the process of being redeveloped. MJ Rees supplied a topographic and buried services survey of the site to the developers – however the route of a 100m section of one particular 600mm storm sewer remained elusive. The developers requested that the route of this run be confirmed with our Reduct inertial mapping system. This required two simultaneous confined space entries to be undertaken, one at each end of the sewer.
Using existing survey control, the positions of the ends of the run were precisely co-ordinated by traversing. Six runs of the Reduct unit were performed, three in each direction. This data was processed onsite using the traversed co-ordinates – allowing instant feedback on data quality.
Processing of the Reduct data showed that the pipe did not run straight between the two manholes – instead it had an S-bend in the middle of the run. The data were exported into CAD and presented on the site survey to the client.
